Accident Checklist
Having an accident can be stressful, but Whip is here to help! In the event of an accident, members should follow the steps to gather documentation as outlined below and report an accident by following this link and texting our accident hotline at 240-428-6084.
Note: All claims involving a Whip vehicle should only be handled by Whip’s Claims Department. Members that handle claims on their own will result in the termination of their membership.
Safety First!
- Make sure everyone in the vehicle is safe
- Turn on hazard lights
- Get to a safe place to park the vehicle if possible
- Check for injuries, when in doubt, call an ambulance
Call 911
Even if the accident is minor, a police report can help to establish who’s at fault. The police will also assist in exchanging information and documents in the event that a third party refuses to cooperate.
Take Photos
Members should not leave the scene without taking the following photos, as they will be needed to file a claim:
- Vehicle damage, this includes the Whip vehicle damage and damage on the third party’s vehicle
- The location of the accident and any skid marks, property damage, or landmarks that may assist with the claims process
- Documents issued by police (ex. police report)
- The towing company’s information (if applicable)
- The other driver’s license (front and back)
- The other driver’s insurance card
- The other driver’s license plate
Take Contact Information
Members should not only get the contact information of the involved third parties, but they should also try to gather contact information from witnesses who were not inside of the vehicles involved if possible.
Report an Accident
Members can follow this link or visit drivewhip.com/rideshare/accident and follow the steps to submit all evidence that is being requested in the form. Drivers should be as thorough as possible to streamline the claims process and get back on the road.
